Hey, I’m Josie.

I help leaders tap into their brilliance to make the world a better place.

Sound a bit too lofty?

Well, it’s true. The business and education leaders I work with are doing amazing things to enhance the spaces they’re in – and this, of course, has a ripple effect on the rest of the world. But as great as these leaders are, they sometimes struggle to get out of their own heads and see things from a new perspective.

I step in with strategic thinking, creative problem-solving, and innovative solutions to help clear the path for big, beautiful change.

So, that’s “Work” Josie:

STRATEGIST, GUIDE, and COLLABORATOR, all rolled into one.

Now for “Behind-the-Scenes” Josie  …

I was born and raised in Toronto, as the child of immigrants. At home, life was structured around the hope of preserving Chinese culture – going to dim sum on Sundays and Chinese school.

At school, it was all about fitting in – trying to talk about music with classmates when I had NO idea what they were talking about. What I soon realized was that between preservation or fitting in, neither felt fun nor exciting to me.

There had to be another way.

Fast-forward to my adult years, and I’m a contradiction in terms.

I love creativity, but I thrive in constraints; I love structure, but I’m always breaking “the rules;” I see the world at 50,000 feet, but I can break things down minute by minute. I love bringing people together, but I feel shy at parties. (Fellow introverts, you know the deal!)

As for following the status quo?
Hard pass.

  • Instead of choosing art or science, I did both a political science (arts) and zoology (science) degree.

  • Instead of doing the traditional, I ran a technology start-up before it was cool.

  • Instead of working in a corporate environment, I chose to work in a university because I could explore more.

  • Instead of choosing an industry, I examine the patterns across industries.

I also feel guided by what feels FUN.

Things like sorting my son’s lego by colour (I swear this isn’t OCD), subjecting friends and family to my cooking “experiments,” and designing my house all bring me joy. Although, don’t ask me how much I’ve decorated my home! That’s another contraction: I love art, but have nothing on my walls because I haven’t felt moved to commit to anything.

*sigh*

Here’s what also lights me up inside:

Trying something new that feels challenging. It’s pure fun to me. When I guide others through the process of overcoming their biggest hurdles and finding new ways forward, it’s incredibly rewarding. I love building experiences for clients that take them to places they didn’t even know existed. When they get there, they not only see the world differently but have the insights to change it for the better.

Look at that, I’ve looped back to my work life!

What can I say? When you love your work as much as I do, it happens. And shouldn’t we ALL feel that way – that the hours we clock for our career fuel our soul?

I hope you’re nodding along, fired up about the difference you’re making. Should you ever need a shift in perspective or a nudge out of your comfort zone, I’m just a message away.
